Alpha Psi Lambda, Inc. is proud of its rich history and the strong

people that have shaped the organization to what it has become.

Alpha Psi Lambda, Inc is the first co-ed Latino-oriented fraternity in the nation.

In the Spring of 1985, several students at The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH

felt a need for a Latino-oriented organization on campus. These students specifically went

on a specific need for a family based organization that brought together brothers and sisters

where cultures and heritages could be appreciated and respected.

Thus began the first spark that eventually became

Alpha Psi Lambda.

On March 10, 1985, thirteen individuals were officially initiated as the founders of Alpha Psi Lambda.

Los Primeros:

Diane Acevedo
Juan Casimiro
Carolyn Christian
James Cordero
Tammy Harris
Clara Isern
Marisol Lugo

Yolanda Natal
Saddy Rivera
Nancy Romo
Annette Saldivar
Annette Seda
Juan Vera

Since then, the strength has been demonstrated by growth.  Alpha Psi Lambda has grown to include chapters across the Midwest and South. We are fourteen chapters and over 1000 members. It is the nation’s first and largest co-ed fraternity.
