back to school bonfire
MICHAEL VAN DER HARST - 8/26/08, 1:25pm
So by now you all should have received Pat's e-mail about the event this evening. We will be meeting at the Lagoon on the east side of campus to welcome everyone back to campus and have some fun outside of our meetings. If you have any questions, just give Pat or I a call. It'll run from 8-11pm. Thanks and hope to see you all there!
e-board is hard at work
MICHAEL VAN DER HARST - 6/16/08, 11:08am
Summer is now in full swing and your exec board is hard at work planning this upcoming semester! If you have any questions or suggestions for programs and events, let the new VPs know ASAP so they can try and plan the event over the summer. If anyone has any general comments or questions before the semester begins, don't hesitate to drop me an e-mail. Have a good rest of the summer!
have a good summer!
MICHAEL VAN DER HARST - 5/15/08, 12:29pm
I hope that finals went well for everyone and that the summer brings you some time to reflect. This semester has been by far the most difficult for myself and probably all of you. We've been through so much as a chapter - highs and lows. For those returning in the fall, I want you all to reflect back on what good you have done to this chapter, the university, the city, and to the country. The way we bonded after Feb. 14 speaks louder than words. I am so proud to be your president next semester. I hope you all come back eager and willing to do service and be an active member of Eta.
For those graduating, it was a pleasure working with everyone since I have been in this fraternity. I wish you all the best of luck in the future and hope that all of you can still be active alumni of this fraternity. There is information on how to stay somewhat active - if you want any of it, just let me know.
I hope everyone has a good summer and be sure to spread the word about Eta and APO over the summer to any incoming freshman you know, or friends that you think would want to join our fraternity. Thanks and keep checking your e-mail for updates over the summer as well as the Web site.

MICHAEL VAN DER HARST - 4/15/08, 8:46pm
Click here to download this week's Eta What in .pdf format. I was really busy at the Star and couldn't get over to Douglas to print it out. It has a lot of information on upcoming stuff...plus a very sexy photo and an odd news story of the day. Check it out!
important duck race info
JONO STEARS - 4/10/08, 3:47pm
Click here to download quarter-sheet tickets to hand out to EVERY person you sell a duck to. If you go ahead and print out the document the way it is, you should get a few pages with quarter-sheet tickets to hand to the people you sell too. Any questions, e-mail Jono. Visit the Fundraising page for a lot more detailed info on the duck race and how to sell the ducks.
elections coming up!
MICHAEL VAN DER HARST - 4/9/08, 7:44pm
As Tom mentioned during Tuesday's chapter meeting, nominations for various positions in Eta will be open beginning next week. If you have any interest in running for a position, I'd strongly encourage you to talk with the current individual that is in that role. They will (hopefully) have some good insight into what goes into the job. If I am forgetting a position, somebody please let me know.

Derek Walker has set-up a Flickr account for pictures from various events. He is looking for you, chapter, to submit pictures you may have taken at events to be posted online. Don't submit any drinking or party pictures - this is a public display representing our chapter.

noteable alumni of the week
NICOLE FREELAND - 3/19/08, 7:23pm
Name: Jim Kratky
Hometown: Broadview, Illinois
Currently resides in: Darien, Illinois
Year/Semester of ETA activation: Spring 1969
What makes Jon notable: Jim lead our team to victory in the TUGS competition in Spring of 1973. He did want me to put that “putting up with Jon Lehuta is what made Jim notable.”
If he could sum up ETA in one word it would be… “Friendships”
Most memorable ETA Event: Tie: Filling sandbags on the Mississippi River in Spring 1969 and winning the Boner Award.
Most memorable life event: Watching my kids get born
Life after ETA: Jim states he successful retired on April 30, 2007 and has maintained a lifetime of friendships with his APO Frat Brothers.
What he would like to see ETA have: “A greater presence at Homecoming...alums are starting to come around.”
For more information on the Alumni of the week/or to nominate an alumni to be the notable alumni of the week please e-mail Nicole Freeland at ntfreeland@aol.com.
Stay tuned for an article Kratky wrote for the NIU alumni magazine, Northern Now!
