Through the study of Art History, we gain insight into a culture's aesthetic expression and modes of visual communication. The importance of this lies not only in the appreciation and understanding of the myriads of cultures and times outside of our experience but is especially valuable when applied to our own everyday experiences. The NIU Art History Student Organization seeks to foster awareness and understanding of Art History as a lens through which the vastly diverse expressions of visual communication manifest itself throughout time, history and culture.
