We have negotiated with Fox Paintball to get lower than normal prices for a group of students to go play paintball together. Tickets good for field entry, rental, and 500 paintballs are being sold for $52. Each additional 500 paintballs will be sold for $14. For information on how to purchase these tickets for you and your friends email NIUPaintball@yahoo.com. Check them out! 11/11/2008 - Paintball Currently Ranked No. 3 in Nation http://www.northernstar.info/article/5432/ Paintball ranked No. 3 in nation By JERRY BURNES Coming off a pair of second-place finishes, the NIU paintball team has been ranked No. 3 in the nation in Class AA by the National Collegiate Paintball Association. NIU placed second at both the Midwest Intercollegiate Tournament XVIII and the University of Michigan Open. They are ranked third with 180.5 points, and are behind the first-place East Tennessee State Buccaneers (200) and the University of Wisconsin-Plateville Pioneers (191). “It’s still pretty early in the season,” said Dave Moore, NIU Paintball Club president. “But I’m hopeful we can continue our winning streak with the talent we’ve been fielding and that talent that runs through this college.” This is not the first time the Huskies have seen the national rankings. The team finished the 2007-2008 campaign ranked 38th nationally, which featured only one top 10 and two top 15 finishes. The Huskies were also ranked No. 12 in the 2004-2005 season and No. 11 in the 2003-2004 season, with their highest finish being third place. “The main difference from last year is that we’ve been developing our mid-level players and adding higher-end players with a lot of experience, with more higher-end players to come,” Moore said. 11/11/2008 - MICT XVIII Results http://www.sa.niu.edu/paintball/Pages/news.html#d10192008 Congratulations to both lines of NIU that played in the Midwest Intercollegiate Tournament last weekend. The Huskies' Red team had a rough morning trying to find a rhythm and a workable strategy. At the end of the last game Eastern Illinois University had a three to one man advantage and looked like they were going to finish the game off when Matt Dahm miraculously eliminated the last three live players on the team to give the Husky Red team their first victory. The main Husky team had trouble in the morning as well. After two losses on the bottom field, the team finally settled upon a strategy that with minor changes would lead to many wins later that day. At the end of preliminary play, the Huskies' main team was 7th seeded in the semi-finals (only the top eight seeds advanced). They won all three of their semi-final games to move up into the finals seeded 1st. At the end of the day one final game versus ISU would decide who would end up with 1st place and who would take 2nd. ISU won the game with two bodies up in the end.
