Northern Illinois University’s chapter of the School Psychology Student Organization (SPSO) will be hosting a showcase of academic interventions on September 27, 2007 at the Holmes Student Center in DeKalb, IL.

Holmes Student Center Graduate students from the Department of Psychology will present original reviews on several published programs that are in common use in schools today. These interventions can be used both in schools and at home to help students develop skills that will help them in the classroom. If your school is beginning to implement the Response to Intervention model or FLEXible Service Delivery, this mini-conference will be full of information you will want to bring back to school. Not only will you receive great information about existing, packaged interventions, but you will also learn about the scientific, research-based mechanisms that underlie each program. Knowledge of these principles can allow for the possibility of implementing these interventions without necessarily having the "packaged" intervention.
